Location:

Nestled in 50-acres of lovely woods, the Portiuncula provides a peaceful environment for meditation. There are open, grassy knolls, wooded hiking trails and a small creek, as well as a labyrinth.

Retreat Description: Insight Chicago’s Fall Retreat will be held in Noble Silence. Retreatants will practice mindfulness meditation, which involves moment-to-moment observation of the body/mind process through calm and focused awareness. We shall use the Buddha’s principle instruction on meditation, the teaching on the four foundations of mindfulness, as our guide. This retreat is suitable for beginners and seasoned meditators alike.
The teacher will provide instruction, discussion, and evening dharma talks throughout the retreat.

Retreat Teacher: Anna is one of the founding teachers of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in northern California. She has taught vipassana meditation retreats nationwide for over 25 years. Her innovative approach has included retreats for artists, women, yoga teachers, and students of the Enneagram. Anna has practiced extensively within the Buddhist tradition, training with Theravadin monks as well as Tibetan lamas.

Cost: Costs include meals as well as a room at the Port. The Port is designed for monastic living. Each room contains a bed and a sink. Communal bathrooms and showers are located on the same floor. Men are housed on one floor and women on the other. All meals will be vegan with additional  vegetarian food provided. The cost per person for the retreat is as follows:
Room Cost
Single room resident: $315
Double room resident: $285 per person
Non-residential: $188

Dana: The teachings are offered freely but there will be an opportunity to make a donation (dana) to the teacher and the kitchen staff at the end of the retreat.

Registration: Space is limited so early registration is highly recommended. Confirmation will be made on a first come basis.  If registration becomes full, there will be a waiting list for those who are still interested in attending.  To register, select a Single, Double or Non-Residential ticket, click Order Now for credit cards or other payment type for check, and fill out the registration information.
Once your registration has been confirmed, you will receive more information on the Port and what to bring for the retreat.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: The registration deadline is August 18, 2011. Cancellations before August 1 will receive a full refund. Cancellations after August 1st until August 15th will receive a refund less $70. No refunds after August 15th.
